Maya Angelou
Approach
I work from a relational person-centred and strengths-oriented perspective. That means I see our work together as a collaboration to create the change you want in your life. I trust that you know yourself best and have innate capacities to create the preferred future you envision. My role, as I see it, is as a companion on your journey, supporting you in accessing your strengths and gifts and finding ways to put them further into service for yourself.
My hope for our time together is a shared exploration of possibility through therapeutic conversation with opportunities for reflection, new perspectives, and perhaps some skill development along the way. Together, we can identify and map out your best path forward.
Some of the areas we can work on together include:
Life transitions
Overwhelm
Loss & Grief
Isolation
Relationships
Stress
Boundaries
Depression
Anger
Burnout
Identity
Self-relationship
Trauma
Self-confidence
Anxiety
Parenting
Doubt
Motivation
Violence
Communication
Fear
Connection
Decision-making
Shame
Every person is different and needs and preferences may change over time. I like to be responsive to this, so I use a tailored approach to counselling in each session. The time we spend together is for your benefit, and you will have choices about where we direct our energy.
Always, though, I am engaged with you as the expert in your own life, looking at your strengths (even ones you may not yet see), and thinking about the role context has played so far and will play in the future of your life story.
